Wise Steps is an informal employability programme designed to support people in Tyne & Wear who have been long term unemployed or are currently economically inactive. The programme takes participants on a journey towards employment or self-employment through bespoke one-to-one coaching and group work. Supported by a range of specialist partners, such as ABC, the programme has worked with nearly 2000 individuals over the previous 2 years to gain positive outcomes for them.

As part of this programme, ABC, supports participants who are interested in starting their own enterprise to do just that. We provide dedicated and individual support to each person we deal with and take them through a proven process of success depending on their starting point.

Over the previous 12 months, ABC has successfully supported 15 participants so change their lives and become self-employed. Just a range of people, and their business ideas, we have added value to:

  • Events Organiser

  • Iranian Cake Maker

  • Domestic Cleaner

  • Vehicle Mechanic

  • Travel Agent

  • Kids Entertainer

  • Many more…….

Steve Wilkes, of Ageless Education Ltd commented “I was mentored by Chris Orrick from ABC through a period of deep changes in physical health and forward intentions for work. ABC gave me very firm guidance and support through regular informal meet ups. Chris was frank, serious and honest yet friendly and very inspiring. The workshops ABC organised for me were highly relevant and gave me the confidence to form my limited company. I am now well on the way to succeeding thanks in no small part to the proactive support of ABC.”
