Harshada Kadam Dental Practice

Independent Award

When it comes to describe myself, first thought come in my mind is that I am a very proud, dedicated mother who is the Director of very successful globally growing, Beech Cottage Dental Practices, HSPK Infra India PVT Ltd our own multinational infrastructure company and Prajay Education foundation India.
While growing up, I learnt one thing from my parent which is no matter what happen in the life always smile and respond to the problem, which I did.
In 2009, I graduated from Nashik university as a dentist which was my dream. I got married to my lovely husband Pravin and everything was so nice until 19th April 2010, I lost my both parents in tragic car accident. It was most difficult time of my life but I endured through it due to my upbringing and parenting, I became better person while going through this grief.
In 2010, we relocated to UK to explore and achieve new potential in dentistry which we were proud of it.
As we say, life always comes with surprises, challenges and twist and it’s true! On 10th July 2013 I become first time mum which was very happy moment for us but that happiness last for 1 day. Within 2 days of arrival of my son, Doctor said my son has Downs syndrome, doctors were shocked, and my world changed forever.
Initially it was massive blow to my motherhood. But once you become mum you just want best things for your own kid. Doctors were doing their duty by educating us about the condition and his lifelong dependency. To be honest, I was shattered, but it was time to collect myself and prepare for a long battle for my son.
If God choose me to do this job, so be it !I ignored all their opinions and focused on what he can, and he will do in is life no matter what, I will get training for it, travel around the world to gain the knowledge.
I believe - when there is a will, there is a way! I found training in Philadelphia USA, and I left everything behind and went to IAHP institute in USA to learn how to unlock hidden potential of a kid with special needs.
Today I am so proud of my Shaurya is running, swimming @ level 6, playing tennis, attending mainstream school and did one small TV episode on channel 5.
While learning these difficult lessons from life, I continued my learning journey in Health and wellness and become certified Health Coach which helped me with son’ s wellness and nourishment.
During this period, me and my husband Pravin worked as team and continued our professional growth by expanding our Dental practices. Today we have 2 branches of Beech cottage dental practice one in Gosforth and another in Corbridge and having team of 20 people with different ethnicities and nationalities.
Being director of 3 companies, I believe in corporate social responsibility and inclusion. I am passionate in bringing communities together with commitment to multicultural celebration and community upliftment. The business’s contribution is truly inspiring from sponsoring all small cultural festivals to grand scale Diwali festival, Ramadan Grand Bazaar and supporting Christmas charity events at Corbridge church. Whether it’s backing local football teams like Corbridge Comet 13 or supporting the Gosforth Bowling Club for elderly, the business’s contributions are truly meaningful and widespread
While learning and grasping new things about how disable kids can do wonders in life now it’s time to spread this knowledge to needed parents and empower them so me and my husband have laid the foundation for a school for children with disabilities in our hometown, extending hope, care, and education to those who need it the most in the area where disability is seen as a burden due to financial constraint.

Being nominated for this award means that my story will reach all those mums, couples and families who are chosen to be parents of special needs children and do not find way out of the stereotypical approach which had been laid down by medical world and society. These children are here to spread unconditional love and care. They are truly special and gift to the world.
