Aisha Purvis
Aisha is the visionary behind Sensmart Ltd., a pioneering company in the health-tech sector. With over ten years of managerial experience and a background in healthcare, Aisha launched Sensmart to address critical issues in clinical nutrition. As a full-time parent carer for her disabled daughter, she became driven to create solutions that enhance the quality of care for individuals with disabilities, impairments, or those unable to communicate through conventional means. Sensmart's flagship innovation, Numenyu®, is a cutting-edge, multi-sensory menu designed to revolutionize the way patients engage with food in clinical care settings. Numenyu® uses visual, tactile, auditory, and olfactory stimulation to promote better nutritional intake, helping to combat malnutrition and dehydration.
The innovative technology has secured patentpending status and aims to empower individuals by giving them autonomy and choice in their daily dietary decisions. Under Aisha's leadership, Sensmart has achieved significant milestones, including collaborating with major organizations and gaining recognition in the media. The company was featured in a BBC interview with Dr. Ranj, highlighting the groundbreaking nature of their work. Additionally, Sensmart secured a real-world evaluation within an NHS trust and received funding from Newcastle University's Faculty of Medicine through a research excellence development award.
This funding is being used to conduct a pilot trial to study the physiological and psychological effects of Sensmart's innovations on food choices and hunger. Beyond her entrepreneurial accomplishments, Aisha is a passionate advocate for equality, diversity, and the improvement of work conditions for parent carers and female leaders in the workplace. She recently joined Women on Boards, an organization that supports women in leadership roles, and is part of a think tank dedicated to changing policies and addressing inequalities in female entrepreneurship.
Through her work in this group, Aisha is helping shape the future of female leadership, championing policies that promote greater equality and opportunity for women in business. Her work is not only transforming healthcare but also advancing social change in key areas of gender equality and entrepreneurship.
